Important Information about our planned consignment sale
"We regret that we will NOT be able to have our sale as planned."
Hello Everyone! We hope you had a safe Memorial Day weekend. We enjoyed some much needed family time as we remembered those who sacrificed their life for our country.
The Greenway Kids family also made an important decision this past week that affects you. After much prayer, medical news, and discussions, we regret that we will NOT be able to have our consignment sale as planned. Please know that this was a difficult decision for us, as we were really excited and ready to enjoy another sale. But our family comes first and we all agree that we just cannot successfully have a sale at this time. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you and we hope that you will better understand why we came to this conclusion after reading this note.
But why no sale?
As most of you know, Dayna’s health has been a continued issue during our Greenway Kids store ownership. After more health issues, tests, doctor’s visits, and finally some answers, Dayna has been diagnosed with Epilepsy. Now, we know what you are thinking, because we all thought the same thing ... “How in the world could you not notice that Dayna was having seizures?”
“When most people think of epilepsy, they think of the kind of seizure that causes loss of consciousness, falls, and jerking movements affecting the whole body. However, this type of seizure, while dramatic, is just one form of epilepsy. An equally common form is the partial seizure. Partial seizures are not easily recognized by the public and are easy to mistake for other conditions. Partial seizures are the most common form of seizure in adults affecting 6 out of every 10 people with epilepsy. Among children with epilepsy, 4 out of every 10 have partial seizures.” (from PDF listed below)
This is all new to us and Dayna is just starting treatment which can be difficult to target her particular type of Epilepsy. Her seizures make everyday tasks more difficult, and with three young children, we are finding that just the daily grind is enough to keep us all extremely busy. The added stress of putting on such a huge project like our consignment sale is just not what is best for our family at this time.
Anyone who has made a deposit should have received a refund or will shortly. We consider many of you our friends and thank you for your support and encouragement during the past 4 years. Please continue to ‘friend us’ on Facebook as we will likely have a virtual resale store via eBay and might have other projects in the future. We want to stay in the Children's resale business but we are just not quite sure what that means for us at this point.
As a mom I feel a bit guilty that we did not catch this sooner, but each day we understand it a little better and would be happy to share our journey with you, if interested. Please feel free to contact us about the sale, the epilepsy stuff, or just to say 'hey' and be sure to make it a great summer.
Jandy and Dayna.
(And the other Greenway Kids Family Member)
Our decision to cancel our consignment sale was a difficult one with much prayer helping to make our decision. We had the best customers in the world and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, encouragement, and life-long friendships. We are looking forward to our next adventure and hope to see you throughout the Piedmont this summer!
